I can’t let the clock strike midnight without taking a moment to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.”

“As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.”

“No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

-I Have A Dream, August 1963

I get chills every time I read the text from that speech.

What a visionary. What a brilliant speaker.

What an inspiration.

Thank you, Dr. King, for believing in a cause that was greater than yourself and fighting for it with unmatched perseverance and without violence. My only hope is that we can continue to evolve equality to eventually shelter all that it rightfully should.

Official Hiatus Post.

New blog, for personal reasons.

I just thought stopping posts without so much as a word might be rude.

This is for my meager amount of followers, of course.

Going home.

Road trips through beautiful (and desolate) lands me grateful for good company. And 3G, when I can get it.

Currently in Wichita Falls, about 2.5 hours from home. As much fun as I’ve had on vacation, I’m ready for my own bed and some routine.

Barbie Doll.

Ah, the last day of the year AND the last day of vacation. I’ll do my resolutions blog (for accountability, of course) later. But let me tell you about last night.

Ever since this trip was conceived, we planned to do a murder mystery dinner type thing on NYE. Of course plans get changed, so we ended up doing it last night. We got our character assignments a few months ago so we could learn our parts and get into character. I was assigned the character of “Barbie Doll”, a ditzy pop star and aspiring actress. If you knew me AT ALL, you would know that this is completely on the other side of the spectrum for me, but it was fun to play someone else for a night! I decided to take it the international route, since I do a pretty kick-ass Australian accent.

I didn’t guess the murderer correctly, but I extorted a lot of fake money and got a lot of votes for ‘best performance’. That’s how I roll.

I wore a cheetah print dress, bright pink lipstick, and teased the shit out of my hair. If I would have spoken in my jersey/yankee accent (which I can also do surprisingly well), I definitely could have been pulled out of an episode of Jersey Shore.

Fabulous. Happy New Year’s Eve everybody! Stay safe and have fun, wherever you are!

The best White Elephant gift EVER.

I took lots of really cool pictures today of trees, mountains, snow and ski lifts, and me in my awesome new knitted cap. I was so ready to post them.

Until this happened.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the greatest white elephant gift ever.

If you’re not familiar with what White Elephant gift exchange: People bring gifts or things from around their house that they either don’t want or want to regift, and then people choose/steal them much like Chinese Christmas.

Don’t worry, I ate it up and acted like it was the best thing I ever got. I thumbs-upped in every picture that was taken of me with it, and then I went behind the guy in the picture (who I don’t know) and someone took a picture of me pointing at him IRL and him in the pic.

So hilarious. WHAT A VACATION.

The view from outside our window. Totally digging that bench swing. Hopefully not alone, because half occupied bench swings are sad sights.

Bed now. Earliest I’ve gone to bed in a while but I’ve got a 6AM wakeup call to get to the slopes! It’s gonna be a long, tiring, and fun day.

P.S. Hot tubbing in 30 degree weather is not as crazy as it sounds. It feels amazing, and the steam that radiates off your body when you get out is crazy!

…Eyes…are closing…sweet dreams!

We made it! Twenty-three people are crashing in this house for the next four days. It’s going to be nuts, but at least I get a bed (that I don’t have to share).

Some people would cringe at the thought of this, but the people I’m with are total badasses, so I am PUMPED!

Pagosa Springs, CO. Chicka chicka yeah!

Trip Tale Number One.

Stopped in a town called Muleshoe, TX for a restroom break.

Side note: I feel bad for anybody who comes in after us at a pit stop (there are 18 of us total).

The line was, obviously, very long and NOBODY was waiting for the mens room, so I let one girl go in there ahead of me. I guess while I was in there a guy came up to use the restroom and the other girls in line thought it would be hilarious to tell him I’m in there and have him wait RIGHT OUTSIDE the door.

I walk out, am obviously alarmed by his presence, and muster out an awkward “hi” and wave.

Cue: erupting laughter.

KARMA, BABY. It’s coming.
